Hi,

We're trialling an IP 7000 as a conference phone and I have a question about the PC Audio port. When a cable is connected to this port the phone automatically goes into PC mode, and stays this way until the cord is unplugged. What I wanted to do is have the phone connected to the PC all the time and be able to select PC mode from a softkey or similar. This is because we want a dual purpose phone that can do normal voice calls and also act as a PC mic and speaker for video conferencing.

Is it possible to do what I want? Perhaps with a firmware update? Currently running UC Software Version 4.0.7.2514 and BootROM 5.0.1.10553.

Thanks.

Hello WayneG,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The phone is working as designed as the PC / Mobile phone cable is not designed to be plugged into the phone for the whole time. It is meant to be a solution to be used if such device is utilized to make a call.

Thanks for responding. I thought this was going to be the case. So close to what we were looking for in a conference phone. Seems like it would be an easy fix to change the behaviour to be able to select the "mode" much like you would select a line before making a call. Oh well.
