Btw. the procedure above was done with this two downloads in step 3 as well (results were the same):

And to be clear as possible in case of using the combined download sip.ld file (not 2345-12600-001.sip.ld) was used in step 4.

Hello zwar,

as already explained this is not a support forum but in the community spirit please do the following:

  • Create a new User on your FTP
  • Dump the Upgrader and UCS files all unzipped into a new Directory
  • Point the FTP user to this directory
  • Change the Provisioning settings on your phone to use this user account
  • Let the Phone boot from this directory

If the above does not work for yourself please work with your Polycom Reseller as advised.

Best Regards

Dear Steffen,

thank you very much! Now the phone was upgraded successfully.

I suggest you put this into this doc Polycom UC Software 4.0.x Upgrade and Downgrade Methods (Engineering Advisory 64731).

The current document sais (Under the heading: To Upgrade SoundPoint IP Phones and SoundStation IP 5000 Phones, on page 5):

4 Copy the <partNumber>.bootrom.ld files from the Upgrader onto your provisioning server.
5 Copy the <partNumber>.sip.ld files from UC Software 4.0.x onto your provisioning server.
6 Reboot your phone.

Best regards!

I have this same problem....but the recommendation to use FTP doesn't sit well with me.

My environment has 450s and 650s.   I can upgrade the 450s just fine using http/https...but the 650s nor the 670 I just bought won't do it via http/https.   The 650 I tried worked via FTP....but that means I need to change the entire provisioning process for my enterprise....or walk around and upgrade about 50 IP650s by hand.

I'm waiting for my reseller to NOT be able to support me with this problem, so I can get to real support.  Anyone else think this is a stupid system?

Hello bcrawfo2,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The Phone boot and App Log should contain the reason for the phone refusing to upgrade. Check the logs.

If your server does not allow you to upload the logs install a syslog server and check that log.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Hi Steffen,

Stepping away for the weekend helped.

It seems that the phone isn't using the info I would expect in the all-0s file that I would expect to pull down the bootrom.

I thought it would go here -> "<APPLICATION APP_FILE_PATH="../code_402b/sip.ld""    Up a directory and down into code_402b...but that's not the case.

0004f24375dc-boot.log:0709124813|copy |3|00|'http://PlcmSpIp:****@secure.server.com/poly_scott/bootrom.ld' from 'secure.server.com(192.168.101.20)'
0004f24375dc-boot.log:0709124813|copy |3|00|Download of 'poly_scott/bootrom.ld' FAILED on attempt 1 (addr 1 of 1)
0004f24375dc-boot.log:0709124813|copy |*|00|Server 'secure.server.com' said 'poly_scott/bootrom.ld' is not present

I can move the bootrom file to where it's asking them...but I was trying to keep things organized.

Thoughts?    Is there a directive where I can point to a bootrom directory?

Hello bcrawfo2,

I am not aware of a method to keep the BootROM in a separate folder. The Application is the SIP / UCS Software.

Best Regards
