[FAQ] Troubleshooting IP address issues?

Troubleshooting DHCP IP Address issues

Depending on the network environment a phone may fail to get an IP address. Please check the basic information >here< what happens with an out of box phone during Booting up.

Logging Settings for all Phones running UC Software via the Web Interface:

  • Settings > Logging > Global Settings > Global Log Level Limit > Log File Size (Kbytes) > VVX/SPIP/SSIP prior to 5.5.0 = 180
  • Settings > Logging > Global Settings > Global Log Level Limit > Log File Size (Kbytes) > Trio 8300 & VVX after 5.5.0 = 1000
  • Settings > Logging > Global Settings > Global Log Level Limit > Log File Size (Kbytes) > Trio or CCX 10240
  • Settings > Logging > Module Log Level Limits > DHCP Client > Event 1
  • Settings > Logging > Module Log Level Limits > Config > Event 3
  • Once the above is set change back to DHCP and the phone will reboot and try to get a IP.
  • Once this fails change back to a manual IP and get the logs
Diagnostics > View & Download Logs > UCS Application > Export

The issue could also be caused by LLDP or CDP => here <=

For modern Poly Trio or CCX phones please download the attached 000000000000.zip, unzip this and place the two files on a Fat32 formatted USB stick no larger than 32GB. Boot the phone with the USB stick placed into the phone and follow the instructions on the screen. For other base profiles, you may want to try openSIP. The <mac>-app.log file can then be provided to Poly support.
