I am using a wildcard tag system to load specific firmware loads based on a device. Recently I have come across most, if not all models ending up requesting a file that is obviously not there.

000050.447|cfg  |*|00|Prov|Starting to update 3111-15600-001..sip.ld
000050.449|copy |3|00|'http://3x3c8aiSlka4:****com/polycom6000/3111-15600-001..sip.ld' from '.com(131.226.0.183)'

000050.773|cfg  |4|00|Prov|Provisioning failed
000050.774|app1 |6|00|Error application is not present.

Some how that second period made its way in there. So if I change the wildcard to read 3.3.5 the double period will be there. If I change the mac.cfg file to remove the second period, then it boots. If I remove the . from .sip.ld in the master config file before I rebuild the files I end up with 3111-15600-001sip.ld

I am at a loss as to where this second . is coming from.

Has anyone else run across this?

Hello speedstream,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

Please also include if you are using a SIP server or a LYNC server

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

The above is also stated in the "Read First: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum"

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

In addition it would be useful to post the part of the configuration you modified. There is usually no need to do anything as the phone automatically tries to search for its part-number.sip.ld and then falls back to the sip.ld itself.

Your changes just complicate everything.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

This is a SIP server (broadworks) the phone itself is on 3.3.5 in this case. Other phones have been on 4.1.4 even up to 5.1 for the VVX models.

A simple search in the community boards revealed nothing similar to what I am experiencing.

the config is as follows:

<APPLICATION APP_FILE_PATH="%APP_VERSION%.sip.ld" CONFIG_FILES="phone%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg,sys%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg,sip-interop%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg" MISC_FILES="" LOG_FILE_DIRECTORY="" OVERRIDES_DIRECTORY="" CONTACTS_DIRECTORY="" LICENSE_DIRECTORY="">

   <APPLICATION_VVX300 APP_FILE_PATH_VVX300="%APP_VERSION_VVX-300-400%.sip.ld" CONFIG_FILES_VVX300="phone%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg,sys%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg,sip-interop%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg"/>
   <APPLICATION_VVX400 APP_FILE_PATH_VVX400="%APP_VERSION_VVX-300-400%.sip.ld" CONFIG_FILES_VVX400="phone%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg,sys%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg,sip-interop%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg"/>
   <APPLICATION_VVX500 APP_FILE_PATH_VVX500="%APP_VERSION_VVX-500-600%.sip.ld" CONFIG_FILES_VVX500="phone%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg,sys%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg,sip-interop%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg"/>
   <APPLICATION_VVX600 APP_FILE_PATH_VVX600="%APP_VERSION_VVX-500-600%.sip.ld" CONFIG_FILES_VVX600="phone%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg,sys%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg,sip-interop%BWMACADDRESS%.cfg"/>
</APPLICATION>

Nothing complicated. Standard info.

Hello speedstream,

A "standard" 000000000000.cfg for example from UC Software 5.3.1 looks like this:

<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
<!-- Default Master SIP Configuration File-->
<!-- For information on configuring Polycom VoIP phones please refer to the -->
<!-- Configuration File Management white paper available from: -->
<!-- http://www.polycom.com/common/documents/whitepapers/configuration_file_management_on_soundpoint_ip_phones.pdf -->
<APPLICATION APP_FILE_PATH="sip.ld" CONFIG_FILES="" MISC_FILES="" LOG_FILE_DIRECTORY="" OVERRIDES_DIRECTORY="" CONTACTS_DIRECTORY="" LICENSE_DIRECTORY="" USER_PROFILES_DIRECTORY="" CALL_LISTS_DIRECTORY="" COREFILE_DIRECTORY="">
   <APPLICATION_SPIP300 APP_FILE_PATH_SPIP300="sip_213.ld" CONFIG_FILES_SPIP300="phone1_213.cfg, sip_213.cfg"/>
   <APPLICATION_SPIP500 APP_FILE_PATH_SPIP500="sip_213.ld" CONFIG_FILES_SPIP500="phone1_213.cfg, sip_213.cfg"/>

   <APPLICATION_SPIP430 APP_FILE_PATH_SPIP430="sip_327.ld" CONFIG_FILES_SPIP430="phone1_327.cfg, sip_327.cfg"/>
   <APPLICATION_SPIP501 APP_FILE_PATH_SPIP501="sip_318.ld" CONFIG_FILES_SPIP501="phone1_318.cfg, sip_318.cfg"/>
   <APPLICATION_SPIP600 APP_FILE_PATH_SPIP600="sip_318.ld" CONFIG_FILES_SPIP600="phone1_318.cfg, sip_318.cfg"/>
   <APPLICATION_SPIP601 APP_FILE_PATH_SPIP601="sip_318.ld" CONFIG_FILES_SPIP601="phone1_318.cfg, sip_318.cfg"/>
   <APPLICATION_SPIP670 APP_FILE_PATH_SPIP670="sip_404.ld" CONFIG_FILES_SPIP670=""/>
   <APPLICATION_SSIP4000 APP_FILE_PATH_SSIP4000="sip_318.ld" CONFIG_FILES_SSIP4000="phone1_318.cfg, sip_318.cfg"/>
   <APPLICATION_SSIP6000 APP_FILE_PATH_SSIP6000="sip_404.ld" CONFIG_FILES_SSIP6000=""/>
   <APPLICATION_SSIP7000 APP_FILE_PATH_SSIP7000="sip_404.ld" CONFIG_FILES_SSIP7000=""/>
</APPLICATION>

All current phones load their software via

APP_FILE_PATH="sip.ld"

All legacy phones are listed individually to download theirs.

I suggest you work on getting yours to look like the above and also work with Broadworks support on this as something is wrong.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Ultimately I ended up removing the errant character and everything was fine. It looks like it was a carry over from an old file template that just got corrupted as we upgraded switch revisions.
