Hello all,
Our Partner Zoom announced the End of Support for Zoom Rooms Controller (ZRC) for devices running Android 8 and older Operating Systems, impacting Poly Trio 8500 and PolyTrio 8800 when paired to a Zoom Room as a Controller.
Zoom announced on January 25th the end of support for Zoom Rooms Controller (Android) on Legacy Hardware devices not running a minimum of Android 9. Read the Zoom announcement here.
This announcement includes plans to make the ZRC 5.14 release (planned March 2023) the final version for those legacy devices. Zoom will end support and restrict connectivity for the 5.14 ZRC release in February 2024. Plans on HP Poly SW to include ZRC are currently under discussion.
The ZRC application will continue to function until the February 2024 cutoff but will not receive any new features after the March 2023 release.
This announcement is posted on Zoom’s support page and includes an email notice to impacted customers.
Trio 8500 and 8800 in Generic base profile for Zoom Phone service are not impacted by the end of support to ZRC on Legacy Android devices.
Resolution:
- Customers looking to use Trio as a ZRC for Zoom Rooms are recommended to upgrade to Trio C60.
- HP Poly sales are offering Trade-In Programs to upgrade customers on Trio 8500 and Trio 8800 to Trio C60. A link will be added when available.
