Good day All

I am in some desperate need for help from the pros. We are currently in the process of testing a few Polycom devices. Most of these tests have been successful accept the above. Its giving me endless problems.

I have managed to do the initial configuration of the Device which includes the importing of the Certificate. Signing onto the phone with my Lync account works and I can see my Buddy List.

I can also make SIP calls from the phone to everyone else. I also have no problems receiving calls on the Unit.

My issue here is that I cannot make any outbound calls from the unit. Doesn't matter if I dial internal (Extensions) or External numbers. If I dial a number from the phone it gives an Engaged tone straight away. I however don't have this issue from my Lync Client on my Laptop which tells me the Lync Configuration is working as it should.

Am I missing something in my configuration? I have gone through all the settings and nothing is working.

Your urgent response will  be much appreciated.

Hello LukeDuraj,

welcome to the Polycom Community. I have moved the post as it was posted in the wrong section.

You mention above that you have no issue to make SIP calls but then you mention that you cannot make outgoing calls.

Firstly,

If you have a dual registration of SIP and LYNC then this configuration is not supported.

In addition it is always useful to post the currently used Software Version as this may affect the reply.

Using UCS 4.0.x the digitmap needs to be manually adjusted to support the LYNC dialplan.

Using UCS 4.1.x or UCS 5.0.x imports the LYNC dialplan and no changes need to be made.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Hey Steffen

Thanks for the reply and the Welcome. Much appreciated.

UCS - Is that under Platform, Application and Main? The Version I have there is 4.0.1.13922. By Outgoing calls I meant to say that I can phone my Buddies on my Buddy List. That works perfectly fine.

Dialing a number or an Extension gives an engaged tone so at the moment I cannot make any contact with anyone unless they are on Lync.

"Using UCS 4.0.x the digitmap needs to be manually adjusted to support the LYNC dialplan" how would I go about configuring this setting?

Thanks

Hello LukeDuraj,

UCS is super old and I recommend to upgrade to at least UCS 4.0.4 if you like to stay on UCS 4.0.x or to UCS 4.1.5 or even UCS 5.0.1.

If you stay on UCS 4.0.x please check this excellent blog from our colleague Jeff Schertz after upgrading to UCS 4.0.4 => here <=

If you upgrade to UCS 4.1.5 or 5.0.1 above is not necessary.

Please be aware of the following when utilizing UCS 4.1.0 or later:

The use of Polycom UC Software versions 4.1.X (“Software”) requires the purchase of a separate Software license for every device that will use the Software in a Lync environment. You may not install, access, or use the Software in a Lync environment on more devices than are listed on your license until additional licenses have been purchased and authorized by Polycom. These licenses should be purchased from the same company from which you purchased the devices. You may operate devices against a Lync server for trial purposes for up to 30 days without purchasing a license. Use of the Software is subject to the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement.

Polycom reserves the right to audit your deployment to verify that you have sufficient licenses to match the number of devices being used.

Best Regards

That makes far more sense. Do I need a provisioning server to be able to Update the Software on the device?
The reason I ask is that we are in the progress of testing 5 different Polycom Devices to see what the product is like.

Its going to be a waste if I need to configure a provisioning server in order to do a simple update on a single phone.

Thanks
