On page 87 of the most recent UC documentation is states:
You can change the default password using any of the following methods:
• The popup prompt when the phone first registers
• Phone menu
• Web Configuration Utility
• Use the parameter reg.1.auth.password in the template configuration file
It this last bullet point correct? I thought reg.1.auth.password was the password used to authenticate with the SIP and not the phones local admin password.
Hello @neveunc,
welcome back to the Polycom Community.
From the FAQ:
Oct 7, 2011 Question: What is the Standard Username and Password for a Polycom Phone?
Resolution: Please check => here <=
and
Oct 7, 2011 Question: Can I register or is my Polycom Phone compatible with a “XYZ” SIP Server?
Resolution: Please check => here <=
The two FAQ posts outline the correct settings for the password for the phone and the password for the SIP account.

----------------Since the first three items in the bulleted list refer to the phone's administrator password and the fourth to an unrelated SIP line password, I can only conclude that the documentation is in error since reg.1.auth.password has nothing to do with the administrators password.
Hello @neveunc,
I am unsure what makes you believe that this paragraph is referring to the Admin Password protecting the menu's.
