End-users with Soundpoint IP 3XX-5XX-6XX phones keep changing their ring tones etc. This is overwriting the Authentication and other parameters in the Config files managed via ftp/TFTP.

How can we disable end-user from changing any phone parameters?

Or

Allow end-user to change certain parameters, and not affect the authentication mac-phone.cfg file?

Hello bbosolution,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Without knowing to much about your Environment it is a bit ouside the scope of this forum trying to guide you in the correct direction.

As a note 1st (per Admin Guide):

Do not use [MACaddress]-phone.cfg as the per-phone filename. This filename issued by the phone itself to store user preferences (overrides).

So if you are actually using the <mac>-phone.cfg File to provision your Phone you are not following the advised and correct method.

I would recommend to check the Admin Guide matching the Phones Software Version and check the device.set Parameters regarding User and Administrator Passwords.

If you are not familiar with the provisioning concept, follow up on multiple post's within this Forum and in addition please work with your Polycom Reseller and/or Polycom Support as they can help you with these simple queries via PPI (pay per incident).

Best Regards
