Support for Hardware Revisions

Poly OBi Edition Software 6.4.5.10011 introduces support for Poly VVX 250, VVX 350, and VVX 450 business IP phones, version 2 (revision ZZA and later). These changes are introduced to improve impacts on the supply profile caused by global semiconductor shortages.

For more information about these changes, see Product Shipping Configuration Change Notice for VVX Series (EA210826) at Poly Support.

Automatically Upgrade Firmware

You can use a provisioning script to automatically upgrade the firmware on Poly VVX 250, VVX 350, and VVX 450 business IP phones, version 2 (revision ZZA and later), and on phones with the original hardware version.

To automatically upgrade the firmware on Poly VVX 250, VVX 350, and VVX 450 business IP phones:

1 In the system web interface, go to System Management > Auto Provisioning > Auto Firmware Update.
2 In the Value column for the FirmwareURL parameter, enter the following script.
a Enter the conditions to check the hardware identifier.
IF ($PN == 3111-48820-021) SET TPRM3 = 1; IF ($PN == 3111-48830-021) SET TPRM3 = 1;
IF ($PN == 3111-48840-021) SET TPRM3 = 1; b If the hardware identifier matches one of the new hardware revisions, download version 2 of the firmware, otherwise download the firmware for the original version.
IF ($TPRM3 == 1) http://<Provisioning server IP address>/<firmware_version2.fw>; IF ($TPRM3 == 0) http://<Provisioning server IP address>/<firmware_version1.fw>; 3 Select Submit.
4 Reboot your system when you complete your changes.

Important Software Downgrading Information

You can’t downgrade the new Poly VVX 250, VVX 350 and VVX 450 business IP phones, hardware version 2 (revision ZZA and later) that shipped from Poly warehouses starting in June 2022 to software versions earlier than the factory loaded OBi Edition Software 6.4.5 or an earlier compatible version (depending on the device’s hardware revision).

For a chart of compatible downgrade versions, see Product Shipping Configuration Change Notice for VVX Series (EA210826) at Poly Support.

  • Note: VVX x50 models manufactured before June 2022 don’t have any downgrading restrictions.

NetStick LTE Devices Deprecated

Starting with this release, Poly VVX 350 and VVX 450 phones no longer support the NetStick holder kit. Poly OBi Edition Software doesn’t recognize LTE devices and doesn’t display LTE dongle-related information on the phone screen or in the system web interface.
