Greetings,

I am trying to setup SLA BLF With a polycom 670 and asterisk 1.8

I was able to get SLA working and the BLF on the polycom works as well.

However it appears when placing a call on hold, asterisk sends out a notify and the call is put on hold  And the music on hold plays.  Howerver the BLF remains solid red and does not flash red.

If I use the phone with line keys they function as normal ring for green, red for active and flash red for hold.

Is there anything I am missing?  I do have pressence turned on as well.

Hello cbotts,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The VoIP FAQ contains the following post:

Nov 4, 2011 Question: How can I setup a Busy Lamp Field / BLF with an Digium Asterisk SIP Server?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Above explains the steps needed to utilize BLF.

Are you saying that if you just "hold" your line the line key flashes but a BLF monitored line does not behave the same?

Due not posting what Software you are running on your phone other community members will be unable to attempt and reproduce this in their setup or compare against their existing setup.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

Sorry here is the phone software version

Phone Information
Phone ModelSoundPoint IP 670
Part Number2345-12670-001 Rev:T
MAC Address00:04:F2:43:75:FE
IP Address192.168.76.53
UC Software Version4.0.1.13681
BootROM Software Version5.0.1.10553

Correct, if I setup a line key and register it to an asterisk pbx when I call the entension and place the call on hold the line key will flash red.   However when I try to place a SLA call on hold the light remains solid red.  But the other end you hear the hold music.

Thanks for the faq   I will take a look at it.

Hello cbotts,

I am still not fully aware if I am understanding what you are doing.

SLA is a shared line appearance where a line is shared on mutliple phones.

BLF is a Busy Lamp Field that uses the attendant functionality as shown in the FAQ post.

For SLA we support RFC 3265 (call-info & Line-seize)

Have a play around and if you believe there is anything wrong with our implementation please feel free to work with your Polycom reseller to raise a ticket with Polycom support.

Best Regards

I was able to resolve my issue via mac-directory.xml file with the following.

What I am doing is using asterisk to create a key system that will emulate a line key system such as a nortel or nec pbx

<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
    <directory>
       <item_list>
          <item>
             <ln>Line 1</ln>
             <fn>SLA</fn>
             <ct>station1_line1@server</ct>
             <sd>1</sd>
             <bw>1</bw>
          </item>
        <item>
             <ln>2</ln>
             <fn>SLA</fn>
             <ct>station2_line1@server</ct>
             <sd>2</sd>
             <bw>1</bw>
          </item>
       </item_list>
    </directory>

CBOTTS,

This is very interesting to me.  This is one of the key reasons we don't use Polycom phones for SLA clients but would like to if there is a way.

Can you explain in more detail how the calls come in using this method?  I assume the <ct> field is application specific.  We also use Asterisk.

The method described or utilised in this post back from 2012 is simply called buddy watch and extensively described in the FAQ
