Hello all!   I hope I can get some help with this here -- and that I am not too much of a noob to understand how to proceed.

I bought an IP550 almost 2 years ago when I was using a company call Vocalocity.  Phone worked great, but I quit using them over a year ago and the phone has sat on a shelf gathering dust.

I signed up reciently for GHome (Teltub.com) and all I needed was an IP Phone ... so I thought I would use this one.   Only thing is that I was too smart (or stupid) for my own good and somehow (after extensive on-line research) reset the phone to the point where it just doesn't seem to make any sense anymore.   I don't know how to put the phone back into working order.

I am computer smart enough to understand what an TFTP server is and how to get one etc.  But I don't have a clue what/where to send to the phone.  And then presumeably how to make it stop doing that once I have done it.

I hope some of this makes some sense.   I have the following information for when I have the phone in a "working" condition -- i.e. it is smart enough to act like a phone and allow me to access it through my browser.

----

Local SIP Port 5060

Server 1: Address: sip.siptub.com
Server 1: Port: 5060

Codec Preferences: G729AB (set this to 1)
Codec Preferences: G711Mu (set this to 2)

Line1: Identification: Authentication User ID: <your TELTUB username>
Line1: Identification: Authentication Password: <your SIPTUB password which is difference from your TELTUB password>
Line1: Server1: Address: sip.siptub.com
Line1: Server1: Port: 5060

Network Configuration Parameters: Network Address Translation: Keep-Alive Interval: 30

Network Configuration Parameters: Network Address Translation: Signaling Port: 5060

---

Anyhow, there was a time that I could get into my phone with the browser and User/PW  Polycom/456

Can anyone tell me how to make my phone act like a phone again?

Thanks in advance

David

Ok, I downloaded Pumpkin and turned my laptop into a tfpt server (or something like that).  I down loaded UC_Software3_3_3_2  and BootROM software.   All seemed to go pretty well - lots of WTF moments for sure ...

But I got it working now -- actually connected and phone is working.

My question is:  What do I do to save all the configuration info, and do I need to have my laptop on all the time when I restart the phone (in case of power outage).

Thanks in advance for my newbie questions.

So I took all the configuration files and uploaded them to my website in a seperate directory and created an FTP client account.  I pointed my phone to this site using the FTP protocalls.   It seems to be working fine.

Question:  does my process seem off-base?  Or is this a good solution?   I don't have any experience working with phones or VOIP.

Thanks in advance.

Hello EQArtimus,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

I would suggest you check the Information here in the Community and the one that can be found at our Feature Descriptions & Technical Notifications page => here <=.

I can recommend to upgrade your SPIP550 to the latest openly available UCS 3.3.2 and BootROM 4.3.1 from => here <=

The Phone should work without issues once provisioned even without having a permanent provisioning server setup.

Best Regards
