Hi Everyone !

We are currently using IP Centrex system for our telephony infrastructure. All sip notification are sent to centrex.

But we want to have a new feature : Presence buddy. (Not BLF).

The integrated presence feature on polycom seems to using sip notificaiton, and it's not supported by the centrex system.

Can we use alternative system like xmpp to manage presence ?

Hello Knuckles,

I assume you are after something like the RFC3903 for proxy's?

Our current software does not support this and any change to the Software needs to be requested via a Feature Request involving your Polycom Sales Engineer with a business proposal justifying the change.

Yes, i'm looking for that. But on polycom phone we have this feature :

<feature.presence feature.presence.enabled="1">
</feature.presence>

How does it work ?

Hello Knuckles,

you can subscribe to other Polycom phones status and they update each other.

It uses "Buddy watch" and is described in the UCS 4.0.1 admin guide as an example. Older Version of the Admin guide will also hold information on this.

Best regards

When i add contact, I have sip 489 error (bad event) on the phone where i added contact, and 403 unauthorized on the "monitored" (it's not the correct word) phone.

Does it mean that is not supported by my IP centrex system ?

Hello Knuckles,

I have tested this against Asterisk and I am aware that a NEC Philips SIP switch also supports this functionality.

You would need to liaise with your provider regarding this issue.

Best Regards
