I just switched my service from 8x8 to using the OBI Talk and now have a nice phone, polycom soundpoint ip 550, that was sold to me for use with 8x8 but would like to use it with my new system.
My question is can I do that and if so how?

welcome to the Polycom Community.
You need to ensure that 8x8 if you purchased the phone outright reset's any changed Admin Passwords as otherwise you will not have access to any of the Admin Menus.
You will also need to check if your new Provider supports Polycom Phones
