Hello midhun,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The explanation is pretty simple.

The VVX1500 is not even LYNC 2013 certified and therefore not supported.

The VVX1500 is only LYNC 2010 compatible and full LYNC 2010 certification was only archived with the phones supporting UCS 4.1.0.

Only the VVX500 and VVX600 support LYNC 2013 and are certified if running UCS 4.1.2 Rev B.

In addition Video calling is not supported at present on any LYNC version as far as I am aware.

Please ensure to check the release notes of any future releases.

Can you share your lync config file? I was able to register vvx 1500 to Lync 2013 but the Presence status shows 'audio only'. How do you enable video? I am running firmware 5.2.0.

Cheers.

Hello veloclouduc

From the UCS 5.2.0 release notes:

  • Video calls are currently unavailable between Polycom phones and the Lync 2013 client

Thanks, but as I understand, even with Lync 2013 Server.

- Video from VVX 1500 to VVX 1500 should still work because they both support H.264/AVC

- Video from VVX 1500 to Lync 2010 client should still work (although using H.263 codec)

I'm not trying to do video between Lync 2013 client and Polycom video phone.

Cheers.

Hello veloclouduc

Could you kindly remove whatever script you have in your signature?

The post you repsonded to is over a year old but the following (as for example stated in the FAQ is still true):

  • Video calls in Lync 2013 environment are not supported due to lack of support to H.264 or RTV in UCS 5.0.0.

A video call between two VVX phones should work but I have not tested this for a while.

Please be aware of the following when utilizing UCS 4.1.0 or later:

The use of Polycom UC Software versions 4.1.X (“Software”) requires the purchase of a separate Software license for every device that will use the Software in a Lync environment. You may not install, access, or use the Software in a Lync environment on more devices than are listed on your license until additional licenses have been purchased and authorized by Polycom. These licenses should be purchased from the same company from which you purchased the devices. You may operate devices against a Lync server for trial purposes for up to 30 days without purchasing a license. Use of the Software is subject to the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement.

Polycom reserves the right to audit your deployment to verify that you have sufficient licenses to match the number of devices being used.

Information in regards of License Part Numbers can be found here

Hello NCSI,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

UC Software 5.0.1 stated this in the official Release Notes:

Note: The support for Lync video calls with UC Software 5.0.0 is limited to the following scenarios when using Lync 2010:

1. In Lync 2010 environment Point-to-Point video calls between VVX 500/600 IP phone and another VVX 500/600 phone is supported.
2. Point-to-Point video calls between VVX 500/600 and Lync Client 2010 are supported.
3. Video Call transfers and Call forward from Lync Client party to another user with VVX 500/600 or vice-versa are supported.
4. Video sessions between a registered remote user and a video capable in-premise enterprise user (VVX 500/600 or Lync Client) are supported.
5. Video call sessions between federated users with endpoints as VVX 500/600 or Lync Client are supported.
6. Video calls in Lync 2013 environment are not supported due to lack of support to H.264 or RTV in UCS 5.0.0.

I did check this internally and your VVX1500 running a yet unknown Software Version does not support Video Calls if in LYNC Base Profile.

VVX 1500 business media phones registered with Lync Server or Skype for Business do not support video; calls are audio only.

You can follow this up if required via a Polycom sales Engineer by quoting VOIP-107401
