Hi all,

we are developing towards a cloud-based provisioning solution for our product STARFACE Cloud. We are now facing some issues with the polycom style provisioning that uploads lots customer-sensitive information (i.e. logfiles, individual phone configuration etc.) to the provisioning server that we do not want there for legal and compliance reasons.

Are there "common practices" how to operate Polycom provisioning in a environment where the phone should not upload anything to the provisioning server?

Best regards,

Martin

Hello Martin,

you can utilize the following within the 000000000000,cfg and/or <mac>.cfg:

  • LOG_FILE_DIRECTORY—An alternative directory to use for log files if required. A URL can also be specified. This is blank by default.
  • OVERRIDES_DIRECTORY—An alternative directory to use for configuration overrides files if required. A URL can also be specified. This is blank by default.

Both of the above could be a local server within your customers premises.

In addition you can encrypt configuration files.

I suggest you work with your Polycom reseller to get in touch with a Polycom sales engineer who can advise you on the best practice.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier
