Hello folks,

Phone model: VVX201

UC version: 6.3.0.14929

I have a large group of phones that are provisioned manually with a static provisioning server pointing to the cloud vendor. now I want to set some custom settings on those phones and for that, i need to allow them to contact a local provisioning server where I put the master config file and device_settings file. also some of those phones I want to provision to a different vendor

from the documents, I understand that the phone in "DHCP Discover" looks for option 66 among a group of options and if found it looks for the address of the provisioning server in this option. and this gives me the feeling that it overrides the static settings on the phone. however, when i do this scenario the phones ignore this 66 option and continue with the normal boot-up process and provision successfully to the old static address given.

so do i understand wrong? or we can indeed override the static entry of the provisoning server, not necessarly the way i am thinking of now?

Regards,

Ahmed

Hello @afahmy ,

Welcome back to the Poly community.

Some or a couple of your old post(s) or reply(s) to them => here <= are still open/pending as you have not marked these as "Accept as a solution" or at least provide some form of feedback or answer.

If they are in this state nobody finding them via a community search will know if an answer or advice provided was useful and has maybe helped you.

Could you therefore kindly go over them and mark or answer as appropriate?

If they are marked as "Accept as a solution" other users can find these easier and it helps them to utilise the community more efficiently. Please do not simply mark them without any type of feedback.

For your new issue, if the phone is set to static it will ignore the "automatic" DHCP option.

If this is changed back to customer+option 66 the phone will always try the option 160 (or 161 if Skype for Business SKU) and then option 66.

You will need to factory reset your phone or simply change back to customer+option66 or import a configuration via the Web Interface overwriting the configuration. If the phones connect to a provisioning server that is under your control you can also change this in the configuration the phones will load. Simply reboot the phone once the change was made.

I can suggest you ensure the REST API is enabled on the phones so you can bulk action settings.
