Is Polycom ever going to support/enable the Opus codec on the VVX line? The Opus codec is highly used in WebRTC applications. From what I read, Skype uses the Opus codec as well. With Polycom now supporting Lync which is soon to be Skype for Business will Polycom finally support Opus?
Audiocodes currently support the Opus codec in its line of phones: http://www.audiocodes.com/press-releases/audiocodes-announces-webrtc-phone

----------------I'm using my VVX500 as a stand alone unit without connection to a Lync server or Domain. The Phone is connected via internet to a SIP provider supporting Opus, however making calls to and from the phone it only use G.722 even both Opus and G.722.1c are prio 1 and 2. Using SW clients as Blink I get connected with Opus also between different SIP providers.
Is there any limitation in the Polycom implementation or do you have any idea why the SIP provider server does not want to establish an Opus codec connection?
Hello emjal,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.
This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.
The above is also stated in the "Read First: Welcome to the Polycom VoIP Forum"
Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:
Question: How can I find out my SIP UC Software Version or the BootROM Version of my Phone?

Hello emjal,
can you try and remove G729 and restart the phone after and then try again?
We may need you to raise this via your Polycom reseller so we can track this.
