My most reliable and favorouite phone IP501 is stuck in a boot circle since an upgrade was carried out on our PBX.

I have tried to restore the phone using tftpd server and can see the phone asking for the files but it fails to upgrade.

The current version in the phone is 2.5.0 can i upgrade to the last revision striaght away?

I have downloaded the files last files from the support section but cant seam to get them in to the phone.

Any pointers would be appericated as i have had this phone on my desk for the last 8 years.

Thanks

Hello RichE,

as it such an old software you may need to upgrade to an interim software before going to the latest and greatest.

In the over 6 years with Polycom support I have never seen such old software so you may need to start at the BootROM 2.6.x and SIP 1.4.x or so and then work your way up.

These phones have not been sold since 08/20/2009.

Thats for the info, i have already read and tried the suggestions in the post.  Hence my post in the forum as somebody else might have done this.

I have tried for 3 days now without success, could it be the bootrom on my phone wont update to the latest in one go.

And reveiwing the logs of my tftp server shows its looking for files that are not there.

You can again try downloading TFTP by using the following link:

Next, download the Polycom Firmware and Bootrom Files from the VoIP Supply FTP website.

Hello RichE,

I can only assume that 2.5 is the BootROM's version so you manually need to get the phone to a newer version.

You can find the older releases => here <=

You must have been running SIP 1.3.x or older as any other SIP software after this requires a BootROM of 2.6.x

The latest compatible software for your Phone is SIP 3.1.8 and a BootROM of 4.1.4

Thanks

I have downloaded  SIP 3.1.8 and  BootROM of 4.1.4 from the website put them in the same folder and watched, the phone connects and uploads a log file then tries to download the files but cant find some that its requesting.

Strange doing everything that i have read, but it does not want to upgrade.
