I have purchased 5 polycom cx700 ip phones.  In our office we use Microsoft 365 office premium which includes Lync basic.

After connecting the cx700 with an usb cable to my computer i get the message that i shout use Lync to login.

When i sign in to the cx700 with Lync basic. The cx700 signs in and automatically signs out again.

After contact with Microsoft who checked everything the conclusion is that i needed a different version of the firmware. Firmware version that we had on Polycom Cx700 was 4.0.7577.463. Firmware version supported for Lync online on Polycom Cx700 is 4.0.7577.4451.

How can I update my firmware if I cannot use my Lync account?

Hello Frank kortenray,

Polycom and other manufacturers produce these optimized for Microsoft® Lync® devices after a reference design and the embedded OS running on the phones is provided, supported and maintained by our partner Microsoft®.

Based on the design a LYNC or OCS server is required to update these units to a later Version than the factory delivered version. I am not aware of any other method on doing this rather than via for example setting up a local LYNC server.

You therefore may want to reach out to the Microsoft® community and / or Microsoft® support directly instead as this is the most direct and efficient path.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier
