How can I disable the message waiting tone on a Polycom VVX300 with UC Software Version 5.8.1.7278 and 5.2.0.8830
I believe it's located in the region.cfg file
<se.pat.misc.messageWaiting se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.name="Message waiting"> <se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst.1.atten="0" se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst.1.param="0" se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst.1.type="chord" se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst.1.value="cs1" se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst.2.atten="0" se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst.2.param="0" se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst.2.type="chord" se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst.2.value="cs2" se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst.3.type="chord" se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst.3.value="cs1"> </se.pat.misc.messageWaiting.inst> </se.pat.misc.messageWaiting>
I changed Chord to Silence but made no difference.
Any advice?

Hello @Paddy ,
we can only assume you mean the template files within a firmware download subdirectory \Config.
The reg-advanced.cfg does contain the parameter, prior to 5.3.3 or older the site.cfg would have this.

----------------Hello @Paddy ,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
Both the community's Must Read First and the community's FAQ reference the basic minimum information a new or follow up post should contain.
This ensures the questions having to be asked are limited and any new or follow up post contains the right amount of details to ensure any voluntary participant within the community does not spend additional time chasing basic information.
As a reminder the basic information asked for:
UC Software 4.0.0 or later via the Web Interface Utilities > Phone Backup & Restore > Phone Backup > Phone Backup. Please rename into .TXT or Zip the file to attach.
Since UC Software 5.9.0 simply provide this via the Web Interface Diagnostics > Download Support Information Package
Whilst providing some of these details may not directly impact any possible answer the community can provide, it does enable Polycom to have an overview of the current software used. In addition providing all details at the same time allow us to check logs or look up a potential support partners if an issue needs to come into support. It also enables us to verify the entitlement for using features.
Please ensure you always check the FAQ's and/or utilize the community search before posting any new topics or follow up post’s.

----------------Hi.
Thanks for the reponse, I saw that guide already but I think messaging waiting tone has changed for UC Software 5 as those options like mwi.reminder.enable are not in any cfg file

----------------I never checked the reg-advanced.cfg
That explains it and I can now disable MWI tone.
Thanks for all your help.
sorry to to ask another question.
I'm finding it hard to find this setting on older version of UC
For example
If I do a search for mwi in all the cfg files, I don't see an option for disabling voicemail tone

Could it be under a different name?
UC firmware is
5.2.0.8330
Hello @Paddy ,
As explained in my earlier replys not every parameter is in the templates. Some parameters are added later. As we do not know what Software Version you are running it could simply be the fact the parameter does not exist in the version you are trying to use.
Jan 14, 2015 Question:Finding the default values for configuration parameters for Polycom Phones?
Resolution: Please check => here <=
Try to add it via a simple configuration file and an error should appear if the version you are testing is not compatible.
The next step would be a support ticket.
In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you.
End Customers are unable to open a ticket directly with Polycom support.
If this is some sort of an Internet discounter providing your MAC address or your Polycom devices serial will enable us to look up who would be able to support you. This may not be who you purchased the Polycom device from.
If the unit is no longer within warranty please be prepared to Pay Per Incident / PPI. This is all outlined in detail here
