I have created some custom backgrounds for use with the VVX color phones and VVX color expansion modules. The images are fetched via HTTP and load fine on the VVX phones, however the EM fails to load the image and defaults to the gradient background.

 

I played around with this for a bit and noticed that even going into the phones web interface and uploading the image from my PC, it would still fail. I also tried loading from a USB stick and selecting from the phone but there is no option to do this currently.

 

Finally, I tried to select one of the default images from the server "BeachEM.jpg" which worked fine. It appears the EM is only recognizing images located directly on the provisioning server.  All the documentation I found outlined that HTTP backgrounds are supported on the phone and expansion modules.

 

I increased the logging level on the EM and didn't see anything indicating a failure or error.

 

Tested on UC 4.1.6 and 5.1.0 firmware

I believe I am able to reproduce this but would ask you to log this via your Polycom reseller with our Support Team.

Did you get an answer to this problem? I have exactly the same fault. The image displays on the web interface fine, but the EM still has the normal background.

welcome to the Polycom Community. The Original poster posted this back in 2014.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

Please also include if you are using a SIP server or a LYNC / Skype for Business server.

If LYNC or Skype please provide Version details and if these are on premise of off premise

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Yeah i saw how far back it was posted, but thought that id try my luck.

 

Im using a sip server and my phone software is Version: 5.5.2.9374. The expansion module is attached to a VVX 601. The background images work fine on there.

Hello @Eyes,

UC Software 5.5.2 is no longer a supported software and you should try a current one line 5.8.0 or 5.7.2

Is it either a picture on the phone or on the EM. Or can you have both? Ive upgraded the software on the phone to 5.7.2. I have uploaded images to the phone as you can see, but if i click the JellyfishEM file and save it, the Sailboat vanishes from the phone and vice versa?

the FAQ above contains screenshots of examples where it clearly shows 2 different images being loaded.

Doh!!!  I was adding them separately!! Ive done them together and its working fine.
