Dynamic (on the fly) ringtones at soundpoint ip 5xx possible?

Hi,

Im using a quite old Soundpoint ip 500 (maybe looking for a newer one) with asterisk 1.8.x. The ringtones are ok, but now Im using my own ringtones.

Unfortunatly it seems, that i only can change the ringtones at boottime.

It is possible to download the ringtone dynamicly everey time it is needed, i.e. via http? I a kind like: I want to ring, lets download the ringtone for number XXX !

Or, as another possibility, it is possible to  care the phonebook outside of the phone, so that Im possible to set a ringtone for every number outside the phone even the caller is unknown yet?

I saw something like SIP alert message, but Im not sure, that this is useful for this. Furthermore i saw, that it is possible to set an URL (like http) instead of the direct name, but it seems, that these tone are loaded at boottime, so i cant change it on the fly. Rebooting the phone for every ring seems not feasible to me.

Any ideas? Hints?

Tfh!

Oliver

Hello Oliver,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Oct 25, 2011 Question: How can I change my Ringtone or Ring in a special manner for a certain incoming call?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Most likely above is what you mention to have seen already but I have just updated this today to document what you are most likely after.

Please be aware that the SPIP500 and SPIP501 no longer receive any updated software and possibly are very restricted in functionality.

In addition the wav files are quite restricted.

As far as I am aware they need to be 8kHz and it is important to have a file L16 (PCM) format and a file in either G711Mu or G711A.
