I was reading the release notes found here http://downloads.polycom.com/voice/voip/uc/UC_Software_Release_Notes_5_0_2_D.pdf

for 5.02 Rev D and I found this line.

86575/85968/84650/83991

The phone now successfully downloads the updates from the mac-directory.xml file and modifies the speed dial list correctly.

For polycom phones VVX 310,500,600 how can I implement this feature in their configuration XML files. I havent found anything on the polycom websites that references updating the directory in fact I had thought it was a big problem that no one exer fixed.

Does this release note mean that the issue where a polycom phone downloads the directory once per reflash fixed?

Please respond, and please don't just tell me to consult my provider since you guys are my provider.

Hello Impala-Austin,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

The <mac>-Directory is an individual 12 digit MAC address Placeholder and the Directory functionality has always been like this.

On Factory reset it tries to download a <Mac>-Directory.xml and if not available a 000000000000-directory.xml and after this only the MAC-Directory.

This is also explained here:

Jan 6, 2012 Question: How can I create a local directory or what is the 000000000000-directory.xml used for?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Please be aware that the company who sold you the Polycom phones is your Tier 1 Support as Polycom does not sell directly to End Users.

If you require to change this please raise this via your Polycom reseller as a feature request via a Polycom sales engineer and provide a business proposal why this would be required.

Above is necessary in order to track this internally within Polycom and evaluate the request and prioritize this based on the feasibility and the general impact on other features.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier
