Hello,

Provisioning a registration server for Poylcom SoundPoint IP and VVX phones can be done in two separate XML settings:

in reg.1.server.1.address="x.x.x.x" and in voIpProt.server.1.address="x.x.x.x".

What exactly is the difference between setting these two? What is recommended usage? Are both necessary?

The Manual states the reg.* options override voIpProt.* options.

If I just want to specify reg.* can I ignore voIpProt?

Thanks,

Ron Arts

reg.x parameters are for specific registrations and voiPProt is to cover all registrations that do not have a reg.x value set on a phone.

An example would be one registration on Cisco and one on Broadsoft. You might want TCP on Cisco and TLS on Broadsoft so you would want two different reg.x parameters instead of voiPProt.

"If I just want to specify reg.* can I ignore voIpProt?" Yes that is correct.

I hope that helps.
