I'm using a Polycom 430 on 3.2.7 and I can't get it to download a the LoudRing.wav file that comes in the firmware package. I've turned up the logging for the device but don't understand the error message I'm collecting:

Hello mcsmith86,

Only briefly looking at this, as this is really something that maybe require support, but it seems the sip.cfg you are using is not the one that came with the SIP 3.2.7 release and I cannot see the phone loading a phone1.cfg.

Please use the above correct files and then re-test again.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

The sip.cfg was definitely not the 3.2.7 sip.cfg so I updated that.  Our provisioning server is a little bit departed from the standard sip.cfg+phone1.cfg+mac.cfg.  When the initial request is made the phone receives:

<APPLICATION APP_FILE_PATH="../frm/2345-11402-001.sip_327.ld" MISC_FILES="" CONFIG_FILES="poly-0004f2156800.cfg,sip.cfg"/>

So poly-mac.cfg has a bunch of overrides and sip.cfg is (now) the sip 3.2.7 sip.cfg.  Both are attached.  I still get a similar error:

12:52:07 0004f2156800|0225125207|copy |3|66|'http://poly430:****@myProvServer.com/LoudRing.wav' from 'myProvServer.com(192.168.158.8)'

...

12:52:14 0004f2156800|0225125214|copy |4|211|Download of 'LoudRing.wav' FAILED on attempt 1 (addr 1 of 1)
12:52:14 0004f2156800|0225125214|copy |3|211|transport res: 23 respCode 200
12:52:14 0004f2156800|0225125214|copy |3|211|transport error: Failed writing received data to disk/application.
12:52:14 0004f2156800|0225125214|copy |3|211|transport error buffer: Failed writing body (61 != 5520).

I'll give it a shot on a vanilla 3.2.7 ftp setup next.

Hello mcsmith86,

can you verify that the content of the phone1.cfg file that comes with the SIP 3.2.7 is present in one of the files you are currently loading?

phone1.cfg is not pulled at all.  The only configuration pulled is from the poly-mac.cfg file and sip.cfg.  This is by convention of the provisioning server software we run.  If there are individual settings I need to add/enable I can do that.

I'll also set up a ftp with the vanilla 3.2.7 setup that pulls sip/phone1/mac configs.

Hello mcsmith86,

The community's VoIP => FAQ <= contains this post here:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: What is the relevance of the sip.cfg and phone1.cfg files?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Above explains that a phone, running any software before UCS 3.3.0, must always load all parameters within sip.cfg and phone1.cfg.

It does not matter if a individually created configuration containing a parameter from the above files is loaded before them as the phone then will simply ignore the follow up value and apply the first one but the phone must parse all parameters.

Please ensure you follow this and if you still have issues contact your Polycom reseller for further support.

And months later I'm circling back to this finally.  I'm still having trouble.  I set up a clean ftp server with 324 loaded in it's own directory with the following mac specific config:

<sip>

<sampled_audio saf.2="http://my.prov.server.com/LoudRing.wav" saf.3="LoudRing.wav" />

<sound_effects>
<patterns>
<RINGER>
<SAMPLED_2 se.pat.ringer.13.name="LoudRingHTTP" />
<SAMPLED_3 se.pat.ringer.14.name="LoudRingFTP" />
</RINGER>
</patterns>
</sound_effects>

</sip>

This tested http as well as FTP.  Came back with error(s):

Hello mcsmith86,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

The log is quite clear:

0411162706|curl |3|530|Getting file with size: 127966
0411162706|copy |1|530|opened file /rfs0/LoudRing.wav for writing

0411162706|curl |3|530|Received only partial file: 56580 bytes
0411162706|curl |3|530|Closing connection #0
0411162706|copy |4|530|Download of 'LoudRing.wav' FAILED on attempt 1 (addr 1 of 1)
0411162706|copy |3|530|transport res: 23 respCode 150
0411162706|copy |3|530|transport error: Failed writing received data to disk/application.
0411162706|copy |3|530|transport error buffer: Failed writing body (1164 != 5520).
0411162706|copy |4|530|Error downloading '/rfs0/LoudRing.wav', this file has now been removed

Not knowing what other settings (apart from non standard log settings) or configuration that is loaded I suggest to work this as a support case via your Polycom reseller.

The phone cannot add the file as it is out of memory to load the additional Wav File.

Thanks Steffen!

That's pretty bizarre as there are no additional resources loaded onto this test phone.  It is literally the 3.2.4 "split" application with all defaults + the few extra settings for the sampled audio file (which is Polycom provided as well).

I guess the bootrom/app got larger over time and ate any free space the Polycom 430 had available?
