Hi there,

Has anybody got polycom phones working with Synology's LDAP server? I can successfully bind and attribute names are verified, but no items show or are found on a search. Any ideas?

Have searched to no avail.

Regards,

Chris

Hello Chris,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Both the Technical Bulletin 41137 "Best Practices When Using Corporate Directory on SoundPoint® IP, SoundStation® IP, and Polycom VVX™ Phones"  => here <= and the community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

List as supported servers:

  • Microsoft Active Directory 2003
  • SUN ONE Directory Server 5.2 p6
  • OPEN LDAP 2.4.12
  • Microsoft ADAM (Active Directory Application Mode) 1.0 SP1

The Technical Bulletin also explains on how to troubleshoot LDAP related issues.

Thanks Steffan,

I think the documentation needs a bit of update - for instance, there is no mention of the free license for productivity suite in that best practice document. Some sources online say no license is needed at all.

Likewise documentation ref: messages key seems outdated.

Is there no Polycom tool to configure the features and generate the XML files?

I will try with MS ADS and come back to you.

Hello Chris,

I have already notified our documentation team in regards of updating the document.

LDAP, depending on the phone model and software version running may require a LDAP license but this is now free and explained in the LDAP FAQ post how to download the Productivity Suite License.

The FAQ post also includes an example which you can simply copy and paste and then load via a server or import via the web interface.
