Configuring EAP MD5 on Soundstation IP6000

Hi everyone and thanks for reading this..

Im trying to configure our new Conference phone to work on the 802.1x Cisco port security using EAP MD5  a simple username and password affair.

Ive scoured the net but not found anyting pertinent to this device, other models seem to have a setting and field to enter the data, this only has a vague reference to MD5 through the web GUI shown in the attatchment.

Can anyone point me to a technical document how to setup the phone? or explain how its achieved.

Many thanks in anticipation

Re: Configuring EAP MD5 on Soundstation IP6000

Hello Dave,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used software version as issue experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

The Feature Descriptions & Technical Notifications page => here<= explains in detail in the Deploying and Configuring Polycom Phones in 802.1X Environments => here <= the following:

  • You can configure 802.1X authentication on all SoundPoint IP, SoundStation IP, VVX 1500, and SpectraLink 8440
Series phones installed with UC Software version 4.0.0 or later on an 802.1X-enabled network

Most likely you are simply on an older software version.

In addition the community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Jun 25, 2012 Question: How can I add a 802.1x EAP-PEAPv0/MSCHAPv2 Certificate?

Resolution: Please check => here <=
