Changing where Messages button dials.

Changing where Messages button dials.

How do I over-ride the settings for the Messages button?

The polycoms are connecting to an Asterisk server, and I need that button to dial *97.

It's a SoundPoint IP running the latest bootrom and software.

Thank you in advance.  I've been searching, but I've been unable to find just what I need to do to change this function.

Hello MrPliskin,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

As you have neither posted the phone type you are using or the current software the answer below may be inaccurate.

Based on a current UCS 4.0.4 software and based that your Voicemail extension is using the Line 1 registration:

msg.mwi.1.callBackMode="contact"
msg.mwi.1.callBack="*97"

Using UCS 3.3.x or UCS 4.x.x or newer no longer use the old sip.cfg / phone1.cfg and you can simply create a properly formatted XML file and import the above.

If not add a newly created file to the <mac>.cfg or simply add it to a existing configuration file.

The important part is to ensure that the above parameters are actually compatible with the yet unknown software you are using.

Simply compare it to the admin guide matching your software version.

Best Regards

Re: Changing where Messages button dials.

Steffen, the code you've presented looks right in comparason to what I found late yesterday.  I'm unsure of what file I would place this in though.  reg-MACADDY or the sip-MACADDY config file?  or is there a better one I should place this to affect all phones?

So far you're spot on, thanks.

Mr. Pliskin.
