I know there are substantial benefits of using VOIP, and it would be silly to use this phone on a pots line setup (Verizon Digital Voice), but in lieu of having to retun the VVX 600, can it be done?

Hi...

Your first problem will be physical;  trying to plug an RJ45 Ethernet connector into an RJ11 analog phone line jack.

Your second, more daunting problem will be trying to get a POTS line to talk 802.3 Ethernet.

Don't think that just because it's Verizon DIGITAL voice, it will work with an IP phone.  It may be digital, it may be FiOS, and it may not be delivered over a copper pair, but the physical interface that Verizon provides to plug a phone into is a purely analog animal that doesn't have the slightest idea what Ethernet is.

The short answer is NO.

Hope that helps. !
