Hey SteffenBaierUK or whom ever is going to answer this port. I apologize for my relentless posting in the last few days, and I make sure to use the F.A.Q http://community.polycom.com/t5/VoIP/FAQ-VoIP-frequently-asked-questions/td-p/4205 but sometimes it isn't clear or I can't get it to work.

So I want my provisioning server to auto-upgrade the software of my phone (VVX410) if it isn't up to date with the one in my server. My server is utilizing the TFTP protocol, is that OK?

I downloaded the most recent UC software: 5.5.1.11526 and extracted it to a folder called "Polycom" and placed it in my /tftpboot/ in my server. Now I am bit confused on which parameter I am supposed to use and I have tried them all, I think, but nothing is working....

I tried those parameters

<prov
prov.polling.enabled="1"
prov.polling.mode="rel"
prov.polling.period="3601"/>

See with this configuration, how I am supposed to point my Polycom/ folder, or I am supposed to extract all the files from the .zip directly into the tftpboot folder of the server?

If not I tried this also:

This:

<upgrade
    upgrade.custom.server.url="tftp://100.50.20.1/tftpboot/" />

This:

<upgrade
    upgrade.custom.server.url="tftp://100.50.20.1/Polycom" />

Any pointer would be wonderfull.

Thanks,

Bumbaa

Hello Bumbaa,

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: How can I setup my Phone / Provisioning / Download / Upgrade / Update / Downgrade Software?
Resolution: Please check => here <=

The above shows in the "Pointing a Phone to an Provisioning Server manually" section exactly how to do this with a FTP server.

I would not recommend to use TFTP !

In addition we have:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: What is the relevance of the 000000000000.cfg or <mac>.cfg?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

The above explains that the phone will either load a 000000000000.cfg or a if available a copy of that called <mac>.cfg.

Within this file we specify via the config_files="" section what actual configuration files should be loaded. You need to create these manually or utilize the template files within the \Config section.

I in addition recommend to read:

Mar 08, 2013 QuestionWhat files does my phone download or upload and why?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

Any follow up questions should be clarified with your Polycom reseller as they are your Tier 1 support for you.

In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you.

If this is some sort of an Internet discounter please post your phone's MAC address so I can look up who would be able to support you.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier
