This may sound old school, but we need an answering machine function that will answer calls and allow us to hear the call before we pickup. Is there any type of function or device we can add to a IP670 to do that?  In effect, it acts as a method of call screening.  Imagine your answering machine at home.  You receive a call from an unknown number, let the answering machine pick up, then listen to whom is leaving a message.  If it's a spammer, you let it go to message.  If it's your child's teacher calling with a problem, you pick up.  It appears we have lost this ability with VOIP, which is a step backward, not a step forward.

Hello JDeBlock,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

This would be a functionality a Call Server would provide and not the Phone.

Have a look over at the Digium / Asterisk Forums as there are all sorts of things you can do.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards
