On new incoming call, Caller ID takes up entire screen. As a result the presence screen/buddy list is blocked (as well as "lines" and "more" options). The problem is that at our business, on our old phones, the phone would ring and everyone looked at the phone to see who was already on the line. If the receptionist or customer service was on the phone, then sales or repairs would answer. We can't do this now.

 

Is there a way to change the way this new incoming Caller ID displays? We need to shrink it to the size of the caller id on internal transfers or get rid of it all together.

welcome to the Polycom Community.


To my knowledge the design is as it is and no change is planned.

It is always useful to include the currently used software version as issues experienced may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes.

In that case, I would like to request that flexibility be added so the user can determine if he/she wants the entire screen taken up with an incoming call's caller id so that presence monitoring becomes useless at the very moment it is functionally needed for us and surely for others as well.

Has this issue been resolved ?  We have the same issue on the VVX 600.

 

Phone Model VVX 600 Part Number 3111-44600-001 Rev:A MAC Address 00:04:F2:XX:XX:XX IP Address 192.168.XX.XXX UC Software Version 5.2.0.8330 Updater Version 5.4.0.8782

 

The ringing Caller ID Display overpowers the Line view.  It makes it impossible to answer a specific call when multiple calls are ringing.

I believe a newer 5.2.2 or later software version may introduce a feature to disable the 10 second pop up and I will verify this once it has been released.

as prior advised its always useful to check against current software release notes.

 

Example UC Software 5.3.0 Page 14:

 

  • Modified the Incoming Call screen so that active calls remain visible when the phone receives incoming calls.

The relevant Parameter is up.osdIncomingCall.Enabled

That just about did what we wanted.  The call takers can scroll thru the list instead of just looking at the data for the last call.  We ended up moving all of the lines onto the sidecar to get away from all the clutter being generated on the main screen.
