We have a customer who has requested for Polycom VC solution+multipoint License key+ ability for  1 or 2 audio-only participants to also join video calls when the need arises.

Customer has soundstation 2W in an analog Panasonic PBX environment.

We want to propose HDx 8000 for this customer but i have following questions:

1. Is this achieveable?

2.What additional device do I need in oder to integrate HDX 8000 into this environment?

3.Does audio participants make use ports on the multipoint?

4.IF we are to propose RMX 1500 to customer in the feature, what additional cards is suitable here.

Thanks for your anticipated response.

Yes. You have two options:

1. You can use built-in HDX 8000 POTS phone interface to connect it to an analog port of PBX, this give you possibility to add one audio-only participant to the MP conference.

2. HDX 8000 has the ability to connect to ISDN BRI or PRI port of PBX, in this case you can add more then one audio-only participants.

2.What additional device do I need in oder to integrate HDX 8000 into this environment?

With option 1. you don't need any additional equipment. With option 2. you need to purchase an additional ISDN module (QuadBRI or PRI) and also you have to be sure that your PBX can support the corresponding digital interface.

3.Does audio participants make use ports on the multipoint?

According to HDX Admin's Guide:

"The first analog phone or Voice Over ISDN connection does not count toward the number of sites in a call. Additional analog phone or Voice Over ISDN connections, as well as all H.323 audio-only and SIP audio-only connections, do count toward the number of sites in a call."

4.IF we are to propose RMX 1500 to customer in the feature, what additional cards is suitable here.

In this case you'll need to purchase the RMX 1500 E1/T1 interface card and connect it to the ISDN digital interface of your PBX.
