I'm curious about the decision to not put version 4.0 in the normal support site release channel, but instead require manually configuring a custom server URL to move to version 4.0. Is there additional risk associated with the upgrade, or some other reason that Poly has made this decision?
On that same note, does this mean that the 3.x channel will continue to get updates, or is 4.x eventually coming to the normal update channel in the future?
Hello @leonharda ,
Welcome back to the Poly Community.
PolyOS 4.0 does not have any new features and is an OS upgrade from Android 8.1 to Android 10 as required by our Partner Microsoft in order to continue to be able to support Microsoft Teams.
We therefore decided that an Auto Update would not be required and only users that need to be on Android 10 could upgrade their units either manually or upgrade via our Poly Lens platform.
Once the device is on PolyOS 4.0 the Auto Update will work again with the next 4.0.1 release

----------------Ok, so just to clarify, my existing deployed devices will continue to receive updates on the normal support channel even if I do not opt to manually move them to the 4.0 release?
Hello @leonharda
once the system is on PolyOS 4.0 it will auto update again.
I am unsure if we will release further PolyOs 3.1x.x releases.

----------------Hello @leonharda
I checked internally and since PolyOS 3.14.x we use swupdate.lens.poly.com to host the software and if Auto updates are enabled then from PolyOS 4.0.1 onwards Systems on 3.14.x should automatically upgrade to PolyOS 4.0.1 and later
