Trying to connect AppleTV to VSX Visual Concert

AppleTV has HDMI output only; VSX Visual Concert has VGA input only. I'm using an HDMI to VGA adapter to connect to the VisConcert. I've verified this connection works on a monitor and TV. But for some reason the Visual Concert says it can't detect a connection.

I've set the resolution on the Apple TV to the maximum input supported by the VC (1280x1024x60) and the maximum output (1024x768x60) and also 800x600x60. This has no effect.

Does the VSX Visual Concert not support input from HDMI sources?

Disregard this, it turns out the problem was caused by using an HDMI splitter.

Using the splitter outputs a green screen.
