Good afternoon,

In one of our projects we have to extend USB transmission to be able to use the Device Mode in the Poly system. The G7500 codec, which is utilized, is located at the server room, while the users connect their laptops to the USB port in the conference room. The system consists of G7500 codec, TC8 user interface and 2x E70 cameras.

We need to use Crestron DM-NVX-360 units to connect the room with the codec, but we experience some problems with this setup (USB camera nor audio is not discovered on the laptop. Can you, please, let me know what is minimum USB bandwidth required for the Device Mode functionality?

Best regards,

Michal Moraszczyk

Hello @MichalMoraszczyk

Welcome back to the Poly community.

We from poly do not make the specs. You need at least USB 2.0 or 4K USB 3.0

Best regards

Hi Steffen

I think that this is a valid question from Michal.

It's not not a problem whether Poly makes specs or not. As far as I remember USB 2.0 does not have a bandwidth to support uncompressed 1080p video, but most webcams work on USB 2.0 standard.

However eg. in case of Studio E70 - it does not work well with USB 2.0 connection. But that is just a side note.

I feel like Poly is sometimes a little lacking on transparency on specs here and there. Datasheet only mentions "USB-C". The ONLY tip is from price list, where official cable recommended for Device Mode (PN: 2457-85517-001) mentions that it is USB 2.0 standard.

Anyways, you also answered that question 😉
