Hello,

We recently purchased a RealPresence Debut system, but are having problems setting it up with a phone number. We have it connected outside of the network, so there are no ports being blocked, and the device is getting an IP address. We do not have a provisioning server. The Phone Number listing at the top right of the screen is blank, and whenever we try to make a phone call, it says that it was unable to register or the IP address is incorrect.

Contacting support, they said that the phone number needs to be manually configured, but the administration manual doesn't say anything about needing to do so, or how to even do it. It should be possible running H.323 with SIP disabled, but there is no option to configure a phone number under the admin console, nor does it interface with our current VOIP system.

Provided that the teleconferencing system is getting network connectivity, and not being blocked by  a firewall, what other configurations need to be made before it can send or receive phone calls?

H.323 'phone numbers', referred to as an E.164 number, require the use of a H.323 Gatekeeper.  The gatekeeper 'converts' the e.164 to the IP address.  If you are not registered to a gatekeeper you will not be able to configure an e.164.

I see. We don't have a GateKeeper, so i guess we'll have to use SIP.
