I am trying to connect to a big Polycom system with a realpresence desktop version from my laptop. When I dial the IP number (either of the system I am connecting to or of the automated callback system), they can see me and hear me, but I can only see them but not hear them.

I'm on a windows 7 machine on a LAN behind a router. I've forwarded my router's ports (as specified in Polycom's documentation) from the router  to my notebook's IP address. I have switched off my Kaspersky firewall. My audio is fine (I can hear the system dial the ip-number just fine, for instance). What else could be the problem?

Thanks much,

-Stephan

It is most likely a firewall somewhere not having enough ports open, or simply blocking video.

I would recommend testing the connection on the same network without any firewalls in the path.

You can also test to the test numbers on the Polycom web site at Test Numbers

Or these:

Test your video at: 71.14.2.158 or 71.14.2.157

Digital Video Loopback at: 71.14.2.154

Testing each unit will determine where the problem may be.

What is the difference between 71.14.2.158 and 71.14.2.157 ? - 157 works fine - 158 doesn't work at all.

Hello kratochh,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Sometimes our test systems are simply down for maintenance so not all of them can be dialed.

From another FAQ:

Feb 01, 2013 Question: Is there a way I can make a test call to a Polycom site?

Answer: Have a look at this post => here <=
