Hi everyone,

I got a problem in changing the device name of X30/X50. 

I am using default Poly mode. The reason why I need to change this device name is that when I call/join a meeting, the name that showed to other meeting attendance is the device name.

When I changed it to my desired device name in webUI, it will automatically change back to it default one (StudioX30-XXXXXX) may be after few days without any setting changed.

Any ideas to solve it?

The firmware version of the X30/X50 is 3.7.0-352042

Provider mode is Poly

This is a day 1 issue since we try to change the Device name

thanks for providing some of the details.

 

3.7.0 is no longer a supported version so I would suggest you upgrade to 3.10 or 3.9.1

 

Is this device provisioned via Lens or RPRM?

Not sure if you got this worked out or now, but I had to change it through Poly Lens. We're on version 3.12, and it's totally grayed out in the General Settings - System Settings screen in the system itself.

I also have this issue with our X50.  Go into the admin portal and the Device and Room Name are greyed out.  And I just updated it to the latest firmware available.

I am having the same issue. We have multiple X30s deployed and all are showing greyed-out boxes for Device Name and Room Name.

We are using Zoom Rooms if that makes an difference.

Hello @crcormier and @wjs2105 ,

either stating the latest software does not help others when finding this post in days, weeks, months, or years to come as they do not know what software mentioned was current at the time of writing.

Please therefore always post the exact complete build id and in the case of Microsoft Teams or Zoom all the details as both providers have the ability to upgrade the software of their applications so it is important to know what is being used and not what is part of our firmware

The same is applicable for not stating the software at all.

 

In addition, are any of these systems managed by Poly Lens or RPRM/Clarity

 

I would suggest opening a ticket with our support organisation.

Hello, All,

 

If you're trying to change your system's name in the Teams Admin Portal but it's grayed out, that is because Poly Lens is controlling that. I have some devices set up in Lens and some not, and I think I'll be removing all of my devices from Lens in order to standardize support.

 

So - sign in to Poly Lens in order to change the Device Name and Room Name, or remove it from Lens if you want to be able to change those settings through Teams Admin Agent.
