Polycom HDX and TMS - SNMP

Hi guys,

Have a weird behavior wherein a Polcyom HDX8000 keeps on reverting to the original name.

We have changed the name in the System settings (and in TMS cause our endpoints are TMS managed). However the name keeps on reverting to the original name that was set when the endpoint was deployed.

Checked the Persistent Settings in TMS and it is correctly configured. We suspected that it is the video endpoint itself reverting to that name. When we further check we noticed that in the SNMP section (Global services section), the "Location Name" is still set to that origin name.

Question is does Polycom use SNMP to provide config updates to TMS? Or does TMS use web to login to Polycom to check for configuration updates?

Re: Polycom HDX and TMS - SNMP

Hello @MichaelMarie,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s. Especially the Release notes as they list what versions of other competitor products we have tested.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

The SNMP protocol is only utilized to report issues so the TMS does this via the Web Interface.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards
