Dear all,

We are new to Polycom video conferencing and wish to seek for your help urgently.

We are a mid size network with several Sites. all sites are connected to a hub site for Internet the site is called Site A. MPLS line connecting to another site at another town call Site B. Please refer to the attachment for the network diagram.

We bought our first set of unit Group 700 and install at Site B, with firewall configured at Site A Cisco 5515-x to Pulbic IP1.1.1.1. It was working fine call or accepting call from the Internet.

We recently extend our network to another town, with another MPLS to Site C. We bought a nother unit Group 500. We also do NAT at the Site A 5515-x (same firewall) with public IP address 2.2.2.2. This unit is also working fine accepting and calling from the external party at the Internet.

Multipoint licenses are purchased for both unit and tested working.

Here comes the problem. We realise Group 700 at Site B and Group 500 at Site C is unable to call each other simultenously calling external party.

Scenario 1. At the network setting - > Firewall -> NAT ->auto or manual. at both units are able to call and accept call from the Internet. However Group 700 and Group 500 is not able to connect each other with neither Internal\public IP.

Scenario 2. At the network setting - > Firewall -> NAT ->no. Group 700 and 500 are able to connect each other using internal IP. However external party connection is not possible.

I wish to enable Group 700 and 500 able to talk to each other with Internal or External public IP, and external party can also join the conference. I wish to seek for advise on the correct setting.

thanks

  • Jun 21,2014 Question: What could be causing one way video or one way audio when utilizing video conferencing?

Answer: Please check the relevant release notes or admin guide for your device under the section “Inbound and Outbound Ports” or "Port usage" => here <= in order to open the relevant firewall ports.

In addition check this FAQ post => here <= for more details and troubleshooting suggestions.

The above examples include a Wireshark trace so you can verify the ports that are negotiated via H.323 as an example.

This is also in a similar way replicable for SIP. Some examples can be found in the VoIP FAQ as well.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
