Hello !

In the Teams administration center we have the possibility to define automatic updates if the rooms have teams Room Pro licenses.

Microsoft documentation states that"Some devices don't support automatic firmware updates yet. Applying automatic firmware update settings on devices that don't support automatic updates won't have any effect on those devices. For questions about whether your device will support automatic firmware updates, contact your device manufacturer."

We can see the 4.0 firmware update for Polys X50 in our Teams administration center, but the Polys don't update automatically. We wonder whether this is because Microsoft hasn't (yet?) approved the firmware, or because this specific update is manual only (as this post seems to indicate) or because the devices aren't supported by automatic updates.

Hence my question: do Poly X50s and TC8s have the ability to update automatically via the Teams admin center? Thank you!

Hello @QL ,

Welcome to the Poly Community.

Some of the verbiage used by our friends at Microsoft are somehow misleading as using Poly Provider mode easily allows the devices to auto-update.

The Microsoft TAC / Teams Admin Centre allows a customer to manually update the software for both the Studio X / G7500 devices but also needs to update the Software for the Touch Panel TC8 separately. From my own personal experience, a customer has a chance to delay the automatic update by 30 or 90 days.

If you want Auto Updates please consider the free Poly Lens service that can be used to maintain a fleet of different Poly devices.

We have the exact same question, we want to use the new auto-update feature from Microsoft without the Poly Lens service. Poly, please read the the Microsoft documentation again and give us an answer if you will support the Microsoft TAC autoupdate feature.
