Hello,

Our Poly Studio X50s run the Zoom Rooms software and they automatically restart once a week.

This does not present a problem for any USB camera attached via a simple USB cable. Because such USB cameras -- following the restart -- re-initialize properly and are recognized by the Poly Studio X50.

However, if we have, for example, a Poly EagleEye IV USB camera located a long distance from the Poly Studio X50, we need to use a USB extender. We use the Icron Ranger 2304. Unfortunately, this poses a problem. Following the weekly automatic restart, I find that the Poly Studio X50 no longer "sees" the far cameras that rely on the Icron USB extenders.

Would it be possible for Poly's engineers to implement a firmware fix that would re-initialize the Poly EagleEye IV USB cameras that rely on Icron Ranger 2304 USB extenders????

It would certainly make my life easier.

I currently have to travel to every classroom on my campus -- following the weekly restart of the Poly Studio X50s -- UNPLUG the Poly EagleEye IV USB cameras and then REPLUG each of them.

It's such a waste of time.

And end-users really hate the situation. Because if I forget, and end-users want to use the Zoom Rooms space, they can't use the Poly EagleEye USB cameras without calling me for technical support.

Your understanding and support would be most appreciated.

P.S. I mentioned this problem months ago and nothing was done about it.

Hello @Florida_Poly_1 ,

Welcome to the Poly Community.

Both the communities Must Read First or Read 1st and if available the FAQ reference the basic minimum information a new or follow-up post should contain.

This ensures the questions having to be asked are limited and any new or follow-up post contains the right amount of details to ensure any voluntary participant within the community does not spend additional time chasing basic information.

Unfortunately, your post fell a bit short of the above-explained requirements and we kindly ask you, therefore, to ensure to read these sections and ensure a reply (not Edit!) provides as much detail as possible

Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the FAQs listed in my signature for your convenience.

In regards to you mentioning this issue to whom? Poly support? Is there a ticket reference?

The best and quickest way forward is to contact our Support organisation as the community is run by volunteers only.

How about a good old-fashioned timed plug or even easier a smart plug and you simply power cycle the unit at a time you wish to or remotely?

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier

Hello @Florida_Poly_1

Time Plug >here<

Smart Plug >here<

Simply connect one of those and either set a time when the power should go off and on or if a support ticket comes in use the app to turn off and back on again for the power adapter for the camera.

Best regards

Hi

Maybe as a temporary workaround you can disable weekly Zoom Rooms restart?

It can be done in Zoom Rooms settings.
