Good afternoon.

we are trying to connect our HDX8000 to a Cisco gateway 3925  (equiped of 2*2 BRI cards). Our line are up and green. We can establish a call of 64bits, but not more.

Before cisco we were connected to AAstra 5000 and it was fine, we were able to use our system for 512kb calls.

Do you have any recommandations to configure our Cisco gateway and be able to call using our 8 channels?

Do  you have a documentation which explains how 8 channels are connecting for 512kb call? that I can provide to Cisco?

For the moment, when we dial out in 512kb (8 channels) only the 2 first channels appear on the display and we never see the 6 other.. Any Idea?

Below are BRI config ports on  Cisco gateway:

interface BRI0/1/0
 no ip address
 isdn switch-type basic-net3
 isdn protocol-emulate network
 isdn layer1-emulate network
 isdn negotiate-bchan
 isdn skipsend-idverify
 isdn integrate calltype all
!
interface BRI0/1/1

 isdn integrate calltype all
!
interface BRI0/2/0
 no ip address
 isdn switch-type basic-net3
 isdn protocol-emulate network
 isdn layer1-emulate network
 isdn negotiate-bchan

thanks in advance for your help.

The standard for this is called BONDING and the IMUX used by the HDX 8000 ISDN interface supports it.

Make sure all your lines are defined to support voice and data, or just data.

Laurent,

For your case the main and principal difference between Cisco 3925 and Aastra 5000 is that Cisco is NOT a MEDIA gateway as Aastra is. Aastra 5000 Data Sheet notes:

___________

...

___________

You need to contact with your Cisco reseller and your ISP in order to understand the possibility and the needed network configuration for videoconferencing through your Cisco router.

THanks for you answer.

SIP is working on our HDX8000. Now we would like to establish ISDN calls, as some of our customers always use ISDN and don't have IP system of teleconference.

in fact, our AASTRA 5000 was equiped of 4 BRI ports so we where able to connect 4 port of Polycom to the PBX and connect them through our E1.

Now our local gateway is equiped of 2 VIC2-2BRI-NT/TE cards. So we would like to connect ISDN calls 512k  from polycom connected to our CISCO BRI cards though the E1.

Laurent,

Let me make my post some more clear. In videoconferencing technology some different communication protocols are used according to the type of network. With IP network these protocols are H.323 or SIP while with ISDN it is H.320. So in order to establish communication between the devices that use different protocols (in your case SIP and H.320) you need a unit who can understand they both and convert one to other. Such a unit is named "Media Gateway". By my mind the used Cisco 3925 doesn't support this functionality.

Please keep in mind that HDX 8000 supports H.320 protocol itself. For use this feature you need to purchase one of special network modules - Quad BRI or PRI E1/T1. Take a look at HDX Admin's Guide -> 'Connecting Polycom HDX Systems to ISDN or Other Networks' for further information. Please contact your Polycom reseller for more details.
