Polycom HDX endpoint running ver 3.0.4 when integrated/registered using SIP with Huawei IMS System doesnt able to call due to tel: formate being expected. They need to convert tel : format to SIP format. Does new upgarded version supports Tel: format as expected by Huawei IMS

Hello ,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

According to the RFC 3966:

  • Unless a SIP UA connects directly to a PSTN gateway, one of the SIP
proxy servers has to translate the "tel" URI to a SIP URI, with the
host part of that URI pointing to a gateway.

Checking the HDX Release notes 3.1.0:

  • Ericsson SIP Interoperability
You can now make HDX system videoconference calls through the Ericsson IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), an architectural framework for delivering internet protocol multimedia to mobile users. New HDX system features
include Earlymedia and Tel URI support. Earlymedia is not supported in these conditions:
    • If the HDX system is already in an active multipoint call, for the second call and those afterward
    • If the HDX system is registered with a Microsoft Lync server

I can only ask you to check using a HDX release after 3.1.0

Thanks steffen for your prompt reply and appologies from my side replying late due to setting up Lab environment.

Tested with Higer Version but didn't work as they were not dialing complete URI, explained below:-

 - SIP URI assigned to HDX is +9682424xxx

 - They want to call HDX with only 2424xxx (as dialing local calls) expecting HDX to pre-pend/understand +968

 - If complete number is dialed i.e. +9682424xxx then calls get connected successfully.

hence recommanded that pre-pend should be done from Huawei Registrar side before sending invite message to HDX

Testing Results:

1,In the SIP protocol invite message if the caller number format with +968, the call will be successful. but there have a problem is that the CLIP is international number even if this is a local call.

From: <tel:+96824243494;noa=international;srvattri=national>;tag=bsf2cgb9

2, In the SIP protocol invite message if the caller number format without +968, the call will be failed.

From: <tel:24243494;noa=subscriber;srvattri=national;phone-context=+968>;tag=1b8e9cgg

Thanks and Regards,
