As you may have seen, Gartner recently released a Magic Quadrant (MQ) on the Enterprise Video space, one of their most notable, and widely read forms of research. While this is a distinction we are honored to receive, this comes as no surprise to market observers, our customers and our employees as we’ve received a rating of “Strong Positive” in the Gartner Group Video MarketScope since 2011. Polycom has a long history of innovation and in our 25th year our core values are still centered on innovation and the importance of delivering positive outcomes for our customers.
This is Gartner’s first “Magic Quadrant” report on the Enterprise Video segment, which speaks to the growing importance of video communications as it continues to proliferate within the enterprise. This shift toward what we feel is more aptly labeled visual collaboration is part of a larger trend of the changing workplace. At Polycom, we call this shift the “Workplace of the Future,” which is about allowing employees to work the way they want to work—from the browser, to the break room, to the boardroom in the workspace of their choice. These workspaces span personal spaces, to virtual spaces, to shared spaces and users can seamlessly shift through these spaces with their device, their application and their context.
Why is Polycom a Leader?
As one of the top analyst firms in the industry, Gartner’s research is well respected by our customers. As a result, it was gratifying to read Gartner’s assessment of Polycom to this important audience. We believe the assessment is a strong validation of our focus and strategic roadmap to receive this distinction as a leader, which is the result of the tremendous hard work, dedication and focus of our entire company.
As a company, our fundamental belief is that our customers have a choice when it comes to enterprise video collaboration and it is our responsibility to work seamlessly with the choices our customers make.
We have taken the concept of interoperability and have grown it into a practice of integrating with the entire customer experience. Today this focus can be seen through our work with partners like Microsoft, IBM, BroadSoft and others to ensure that our solutions are truly and seamlessly interoperable.
What you can expect from Polycom in the future.
Innovation has always been part of Polycom’s DNA, and it is something our customers can continue to expect from us, especially as we engage with them to look at their future needs. We are expanding our focus on improved usability and user experience. We are leveraging our rich domain expertise, driving advancements in software to better enable customers to embrace cloud based architectures reliably and securely. Our newest solutions will allow for enhanced sharing of content and applications from a wide variety of devices to fuel the ‘bring your own device’ (BYOD) movement. Polycom’s continued commitment to supporting a wide range of heterogeneous collaboration environments will enhance everything about the way we work, launching us into the workplace of the future. We are addressing customer needs before they become a problem, across all spaces. We are expanding the workspace from the break room to the boardroom, removing the boundaries of how we work.
Gartner maintains a strong position as an observer of the industry and serves as an advisor to enterprise organizations. We are pleased to receive this distinction—which we have worked hard for from the R&D lab to the field—but our number one goal and how we measure our success is and has always been to help drive customer success. Polycom is on an innovation journey and the best is yet to come.
