Microsoft extends support for Lync Phone Edition

Great news for Polycom customers who own Polycom CX series phones—Microsoft announced they are extending support for Lync Phone Edition firmware. The new support lifetime announced by Microsoft for Lync Phone Edition is the same as Lync 2013:

• Mainstream support through 2018
• Extended support through 2023

The following Polycom phones and conference phone use Lync Phone Edition firmware:

• Polycom CX500
• Polycom CX600
• Polycom CX700
• Polycom CX3000

Polycom also offers a larger selection of IP phones and conference phones that do not use Lync Phone Edition, but instead, either register to the Lync server as IP devices or connect directly to a laptop or PC via USB.
