Hi all. My Poly Sync 20, when turning off, announces "Power Off" at maximum volume. Support has confirmed that there is no way to turn this off. It wakes my son up every time I forget to cover the speaker with a pillow.

I'm sure that it didn't use to do this which would suggest it was a firmware update. Does anyone know where I can find some install files to downgrade my polysync firmware to quieter times?

Hello Zebragonzo, decrease the volume while the device is playing the announcement.

You will see the led bar length decreasing while doing it.

I have the same problem.  It woke me up 4 times last night.  It has never been a problem before. My wife told me to get rid of it

I am desperately trying to decrease/disable the loud announcements for the Poly Sync 20 as well, but I can't seem the change the volume at all using the method described in this thread. I tried during power on "beep beep" and during the "power off" and "phone 1 disconnected" voice announcements. We currently have about 50 devices in our org and I tried a few of those without success.

Multiple users complained about the loud announcements and I am also about to throw the Sync 20 out to have it stop blaring at me and my family. If I am walking through my house it just keeps shouting "phone 1 disconnected" whenever the Bluetooth connection drops for a few moments.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Firmware:

SetId: v.0.0.567.3472
USB: v.567

Update: Apparently this isn't working while USB is connected. After disconnecting the USB connection, we were able to reduce the volume to an acceptable level. We'd still prefer an option to turn off these notifications entirely.

Update 2: After using USB again, the power on "beep beep" is loud as ever again, while the "power off" and "phone 1 disconnected" remain at a low level. So still an issue here.

All I can suggest is what worked for me. Disconnect the power cable (so that it would normally announce POWERING OFF), but start frantically hitting volume down. Hopefully you'll be pressing volume down while it shouts the message. Next time you use it, you'll be able to turn the volume up for calls, but the announcements should still be quiet.

@bsthlbrg

Came here because our team also got startled by "beep beep" and "power off" sonic attack of the otherwise great Sync 20. We are disappointed because there is no concrete fix. 😞

My workaround: when using USB, the volume is synchronized to your PC/MAC volume. So I turned the volume down of my PC before powering off the speakerphone.

I agree with you, I wish Poly would give us the option to turn off the voice feedback completely.
