This involves RPM version 1.31 and the latest 1.3.2/IOS 5 and 6. The scenario is two RPM clients calling point-point using SIP; both clients are registered to an open-source SIP registrar in the "cloud". We've tested this scenario between two home users as well as two enterprise environments. What happens is which ever client initiates the call, once connected they get audio and video from the destination client. The client on the receiving side, however, sees no video (gets a black screen) but does get audio.

It doesn't matter which end initiates the call, the results are the same meaning whichever client is on the receiving end sees no video. The results are also the same with both IPad and IPhone.  The client stats on the receiving end with no video show that the video resolution stat on the receive side is blank, like the client on the originating side was sending a resolution that the receiving client couldn't interpret........very strange.

Any ideas or insight into what would be causing this is appreciated.

Hello stuzo,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

  • Are there any firewalls in your network if this call is made via a local WiFi or is this a public WiFi or 3G call?

Stefan,

Private Wi-Fi so typical home-user setup. We've tested with other mobile clients at the same locations and they work fine with 2-way video/audio.

Hello Stuzo,

did you test this with Industry standard H323 Video clients or proprietary applications like Facetime or Skype?

Our solutions follow standard protocols and you could test this maybe against our m100 Video Client that can be found => here <=

Best Regards

We're testing with standards based SIP video clients, not H.323. Haven't tested with the m100 and not using Skype or Facetime. We did test with Counterpath Bria SIP clients and they work fine registered to the same SIP registrar.
