Hi all,

I would kindly use your knowledge on one topic.

I would like to install a Poly P15 in my Homeoffice environment as it would fit greatly to my components. Unfortunetaly Poly Lens is not an approved app inside our company.

Any chance to use the P15 without having the software running?

Is there a chance to make settings on another PC and save them to the device? Or will it require the software to run permanently on the machine itself?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Adrian

Hello @Adrian G ,

Welcome to the Poly Community.

Normal camera control features should be available in common applications like Skype for Business or Microsoft Teams regarding brightness etc.

Other Poly specific features require the Lens application but should be stored in the device so your approach with another PC should be fine.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Best Regards

Wow, thank you Steffen for your speedy reply and the warm welcome to the community.

Indeed, very good news. On a scale from 0 to 100, what do you think would be the chance that these settings are stored in the device once set up in the app on another computer?

I mean, I will have to purchase the device still, so if it would fail, this is a bit of private money 😉

But sure, I will let you know!

If in the meantime someone would like to assist with a test, it would be more than welcome.

Thx,

Adrian

Hello @Adrian G ,

features like backlight compensation may be lost without the Lens Desktop app and there would be no manageability or any optimized features.

Good morning,

so particularly the features shown on the attached screenshot would not be stored in the device? I would have hoped that this would just be a piece of configuration that is just stored in the P15 (as kind of a visual setup for the device).

That would be a pity. Ok, then I might still ask why the installation is not permitted inside my company internally.

Would anyone have the chance to change some config in a P15, then close all the Poly Lens processes on the machine and try if it will still work? (Zoom, Noise Fence, etc.). That would be really good to know.

Thanks,

Adrian

Hello @Adrian G

the following settings are available within Microsoft Teams via the settings > devices > open camera settings:

The camera is USB Video Class (UVC) UVC 1.5 compatible so any software supporting this standard can access the above features.

If your organisation would let you install a 3rd party tool you can also access the settings this way >here<

Best regards
